Margaret Spellings The Fafsa4caster And An Update On Student Loan Scrutiny

Yesterday Margaret Spellings announced the release of a new online tool that will help high school juniors plan for college. The FAFSA4caster was designed to calculate a students eligibility for federal student aid and reduce the time that it takes to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid FAFSA.

“Improving college access and affordability are key to giving more Americans a chance at higher education and keeping America competitive” said Secretary Spellings. “Families need more informationsoonerabout students’ federal aid eligibility so that they can plan ahead for college. The FAFSA4caster gives families an important tool they can use to make decisions about the future.”

Secretary Spellings FAFSA tool is the newest development in a wave of government initiatives that seek to provide the economically underprivileged with improved access to higher education. By allowing students to see how much aid they qualify for the FAFSA4caster will empower them: as weve seen before many students that live in lowincome families actually avoid attending college simply because they fear debt accrual. Spellings new initiative will allow students to know exactly how much aid they can expect to receive well in advance giving wouldbestudents valuable access to financial planning capabilities.

Update on Student Loan Scrutiny and Pell Money

In addition to the FAFSA4caster New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has also been gaining a lot of media attention. Previously weve discussed how the New York AG is investigating the relationship between financial aid offices of colleges and universities and lending institutions that specialize in student loans. Since the last time we mentioned the investigation there have been quite a few developments; most recently Cuomo announced that he plans to sue one lender that he alleges repeatedly offered financial incentive to more than 60 schools nationwide in order to gain preferential business:

“This kickback scheme was widespread and took place from coasttocoast at colleges large and small public and private” said Mr. Cuomo in a statement. “This lawsuit is just the beginning of an investigation that will show that lenders put market share above fair play.”

Cuomo isnt the only one looking into the ties between lenders and colleges: Today Senator Kennedy announced that at least 14 loan providers will receive inquiries that seek to identify whether the institutions in question offered kickbacks to colleges and universities. In a statement Kennedy said:

When students take out loans to pay for college they should be assured that the relationship between the school and their lender is free of bias or conflict of interest

By disarticulating any relationships that may exist between loan offices and lenders the initiatives of Kennedy and Cuomo will force lenders to promote their services to prospective students in new more competitive ways. It follows that the increased competition will result in lower interest rates for students.

The exact effect that these investigations will have on the business of student loans remains to be seen. We will continue to monitor and update as the issues develop.

Male Perspective On Marriage

Taking into consideration the dominance of male authors and male views in British literature in 16601800 it would be logical to start with the analysis of the male perspective on marriage. This will obviously need the discussion of the works of some significant figures in British literature of that epoch.

First of all it would be natural to start with John Milton the author which to a significant extent revolutionized British literature and notably traditional views on many aspects of human life especially religious ones but who actually failed to break historical stereotypes concerning marriage and relationship between men and women. In fact it is basically through the relationship of males and females that it is possible to trace the authors position in relation to marriage. In this respect it is possible to refer to one of the most popular and significant works of John Milton “Paradise Lost ” the great epic completed by 1667.

At first glance the epic poem basically concerns the religious views of the author and changes traditional Biblical stereotypes dramatically. However it is hardly possible to say the same thing about Miltons vies on ht role of women and marriage at large. Basically the authors perspective on marriage may be traced through the relationship between Adam and Eve and it is highly important how the author depicts and assesses their behavior.

Adam and Eve are allowed by God to live in Paradise in the Garden of Eden as long as they do not eat the apple that grows on the Tree of the Knowledge of good and evil. In accordance with Biblical legend Satan persuades Eve to eat fruit from the Tree of Knowledge and to take another one for Adam. As Eve tells Adam what she has done
Speechless he stood and pale till thus at length
First to himself he inward silence broke:
O fairest of Creation last and best
Of all Gods works creature in whom excelled
Whatever can to sight or thought be iormed
Holy divine amiable or sweet!
How are thou lost!
In such a way John Milton represents quite a subjective view on Eve as a representative of females which is actually Adams wife. In fact Eve is probably admired and beloved by Adam to the extent that he can hardly resist her arguments and persuasion:
Some cursed fraud
Of enemy hath beguilded thee yet unknown.
And me with thee hath ruined; for with thee
Certain my resolution is to die.
How can I live without thee? How forgo
Thy sweet converse and love so dearly joined
To live again these wild woods forlorn?
Milton nook IX

As a result Adams decides to eat the fruit for love of Eve and as a punishment God banishes them both to the newly created world where they have to face the life of toil and woe. At the same time the authors representation of a woman is rather negative since she turns to be the major cause of trouble of a man as Eve violates the rules herself and forces Adam her husband to do the same. In contrast to the cunning and disobedient woman or wife the man husband turns to be quite the opposite he is conscious of the rules obedient and faithful to God but he cannot resist to his love to Eve and violates the rules. Obviously such a representation of Eve as a representative of females creates quite a negative attitude to women at large and the marriage which is actually supposed to be based on love is a kind of burden for Adam as a representative of males and the cause of unnecessary troubles.

Nonetheless Milton underlines that his characters love each other and are ready to meet whatever the earth has in store for them. On the other hand he depicts the relations between Adam and Eve as highly unequal since the latter turns to be totally subordinated to and dependent on her husband. When they are driven out of Eden Eve says to Adam:
but now lead on;
In me is no delay; with thee to go
Is to stay here: without thee to stay
Is to go hence unwillingly; thou to me
Art all things under Heaven all places thou
Who for my willful crime art banished hence
Milton Book XII

Consequently being conscious of her crime Eve is ready to obey to her husband and relies on him that is actually a typical male view on the role of female in marriage in British literature of the epoch as the ideal marriage was viewed as the marriage in which the husband dominates while the role of wife is minimized or what is more the role of women may be quite negative as they are a potential source of troubles for men.

In this respect the perspective of Daniel Defoe on marriage is even more radical. In his famous novel “Robinson Crusoe ” he glorifies individualism and selfsufficiency of a man. Even though there are no major female characters it is possible to estimate that such a lack of attention to females indicates at the authors skeptical attitude to women and marriage at large. In fact according to Defoe a man can live by himself comfortably and make all the things he needs with no other humans. No wonder that the years spent by Robinson Crusoe on the deserted island he recalls as the best years of his life. At this point the male perspective on marriage and women has probably reached its peak in British literature of 16601800s since unlike Milton for instance who is quite skeptical about women and views them as a source of troubles in marriage Defoe simply annihilates marriage as well as the role of women who turn to be simply unnecessary for a happy life of a man.

Make Money With Your College Papers

What do you do with your college essays reports and research papers? Many students just toss them after theyve served their purpose. I used to keep them until the end of the semester and then trash them. Thats a lot of work lost; work that could help someone else. Plus Ive discovered it amounts to a lot of potential money down the drain.

Your completed work is valuable research material for others. Just as we search through books magazines and various studies our work is just as valuable. Studies and experiments you conducted are just as valid for others papers as published works. The research you spent hours reviewing for your papers may be useful to others writing a paper on the same or similar topics. At the same time you can make a few dollars helping others.

Buying papers submitted by others is a great way to start your own paper. Using the research conducted by other writers gives you the opportunity to build upon anothers efforts. This is especially useful when you have a limited time to complete your work. New ideas abound adding to the content of your paper broadening the scope of your work. The references and information can be verified and new information added to enhance your assignment. Many times this can help give you direction for projects assigned baffling you as to where to begin such as papers due for a subject you have little knowledge or even interest.

Offering your papers for sale probably wont make you rich but it will provide extra money for your college years especially for those times when you need to purchase a paper to enhance your own studies.

A number of companies exist that will pay you for your work and then sell it countless times with the buyers submitting the entire work as their own not realizing that professors can be tech savvy also and access lists of these papers. I use an online company that allows you to set your price and monitors where papers are sold so that your work does not make these lists of tired overused papers.

Submitting someone elses paper as your own is against most college rules and is wrong but using a paper as a jumping off point and submitting a paper in your own words hopefully enhancing the work is acceptable. This has helped me get through many uninteresting courses I was required to take. I believe I learned more by reading and using the information students with an interest in these subjects compiled than if I had just thrown something together to pass the courses. Im glad folks with majors different from mine have similarly made use of the papers that I have offered for sale. I put a lot of time and effort into those papers.
