Mri And Ultrasound: Two Vital Branches Of Radiology

Radiology involves the study of images of internal organs of a living human body. A Radiologist is a physician who reads the results of various radiology exams. Before the arrival of diagnostic imaging it was only a patient’s death that allowed doctors to study the internal organs of the human body.

Radiology was initially the branch of medical imaging that made use of xrays on large flat sheets of photographic films for diagnosis. Modern day radiology is no longer confined to the practice of xrays and now encompasses other methods of diagnostic imaging such as Computed Tomography CT Magnetic Resonance Imaging MRI and Ultrasound. Unlike other branches of radiology MRI and Ultrasound have become a separate method of diagnostic imaging that does not involve the use of ionizing radiation.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging is a noninvasive diagnostic technique that combines a large powerful magnetic field with radio frequencies to gaze into human body without the use of xrays. It is the type of an emission imagining that produces detailed pictures of organs soft tissues bone and other internal body structures without the use of ionizing radiation. A detailed MRI allows doctors to better evaluate parts of the body and certain diseases that may not be assessed adequately with other imaging methods such as xray or computed tomography. MRI scans produce the highest quality of soft tissue contrast of all other forms of diagnostic imaging and is especially beneficial for the imaging of the brain spine and musculosketal system.

Ultrasonography or ultrasound technology is an effective diagnostic modality that uses high frequency sound waves to visualize various organ and organ systems in the human body. It is an example of reflection imaging that produces real time images. Ultrasound procedures are commonly used to examine the abdomen small parts veins arteries and the female reproductive system. Because there is no harmful radiation ultrasound has a critical role in obstetrics and fetal imaging. Ultrasound is also often used during emergencies for rapid diagnosis of medical surgical obstetrical and gynecological problems. Radiology Departments provides services to outpatients inpatients and emergency patients with the help of stateofart equipment. Ultrasound technologists conduct ultrasound studies to provide the radiologist and referring physicians with the necessary information to diagnose and evaluate their patients.

MRI and Ultrasound modalities have occupied a vital position within the world of radiology. Not only do they produce computerized images but are also involved in the diagnosis of patient ailments and has narrowed the bridge between any undetected illness. The demand for radiologists and diagnostic imaging technologists are significantly increasing. Workforce shortages in the health care industry are attracting a wide range of individuals to begin their career within the radiology field.

More Tropical Weather With Us

When you receive the Seal you will want to take better care of the earth. And you will notice signs that the earth is sicksigns like the newest indication that climate change is rapidly happening the expansion of the tropics.

The tropical belt of the earth has expanded over the last quarter of a century as measured by the tropical atmosphere. There could be another explanation than pollution but the change is quickly happening.

El Nino is an oceanatmosphere oscillation that happens around Christmas time in the Pacific Ocean in the southern hemisphere. El Nino may have been causing the change that has expanded the tropics.

Or it could be the depletion of the ozone layer causing the atmospheric changes of more tropics. Whether it is global warming or the ozone layer one thing is certain: it is caused by pollution.

A study published Sunday December 2 in the Nature Geoscience journal shows that the tropics are moving much faster than predicted north and south. The tropics here are defined as tropical weather patterns in the atmosphere.

So now more of the atmosphere is tropical in weather conditions than before and growing at an astonishing rate. From 1979 to 2007 the tropics have expanded north and south anywhere from under 150 miles to over 300 miles.

The Hadley circulation is a system of winds moving north and south as well as east and west. They bring moisture to the rain forest and dry out the desert areas at the edges of the tropics. The Hadley circulation is increasing its traveling path.

This is one of the signs that the tropics are growing in size. And that growth is happening much faster than climate models have predicted. Scientists are amazed and even puzzled at the results of the study.

There is not yet a certain explanation for the growth of the atmosphere of the tropics. But the tropics are growing and yet it does not mean there will be more rain forests or any similar such good news.

Instead there will be more deserts at the edges of the tropics. This will affect places like the Southwest of the United States and areas in the Mediterranean and also parts of Australia.

Not all scientists agree that these changes are due to the effects of pollution causing global warming because of the scale of the changes which is much bigger than the computer models have forecasted.

But some scientists affirm this as another change due to the effects of man on the earth in the last 100 years citing also other ways the computer models have underestimated the climate change already happening.

When you receive the Seal you belong to God. And you realize you should fight to lengthen your life and the lives of others just as you look forward to being with God soon in Heaven.

When you are sealed you begin to look at how much you are polluting the earth and what you can do to pollute less. And you look at ways you can conserve energy and use alternative forms of energy.

As a sealed person you do not “trash” the earth. The earth is precious since your Seal comes as a geotype in the form of the fertile earth herself. Your Seal is that geotype that garden and so you care for the earth and nurse her back to health.

Long Island Unified School Districts Foundation For The Advancement Of Student Technology

The Roslyn Union Free School District

The Roslyn Union Free School District a part of the Long Island Schools is composed of five schools: a prekindergarten to first grade school; an elementary school with first to fifth grade; a second elementary school with second to fifth grade; a middle school with sixth to eighth grade; and a high school. The Roslyn Union Free School District serves Long Island’s north shore of the Long Island School District. This school district has an enrollment of around three thousand five hundred students. The Long Island School District and specifically the Roslyn Union Free School District has a strong dedication to preparing all students for life in the twentyfirst century.

This school district provides a strong science and technologically based education. All students receive computer education in all grades from kindergarten to twelfth grade. As a result the Roslyn Union Free School District has had semifinalists in the Intel Science Talent Search every year for the past twentyfour years. The school district also has programs in the application of science to the real world. Like all schools in the Long Island School District the Roslyn School District often seeks additional or outside funding to make their programs a reality. One such source is F.A.S.T. or the Foundation for the Advancement of Student Technology.

The Foundation for the Advancement of Student Technology

The Foundation for the Advancement of Student Technology is a notforprofit organization that in close cooperation with the school district works to increase the Roslyn School District’s technology education program. This organization also aims to create connections between the school district local Long Island businesses and the community. The Foundation for the Advancement of Student Technology raises funds by holding various kinds of fundraisers and some technological based events. The Foundation for the Advancement of Student Technology has successfully raised over one hundred fifty thousand dollars for the Roslyn School District’s computer and technological education programs.

F.A.S.T.’s Golf and Tennis Classic

One such fundraising event is the annual Foundation for the Advancement of Student Technology Golf and Tennis Classic. The fifth Foundation for the Advancement of Student Technology Golf and Tennis Classic was held on June 12th at the Glen Head Country Club. Over the past five years F.A.S.T. has used the Golf and Tennis Classic to fund and support computer related projects and district wide technology based educational seminars.

The Foundation for the Advancement of Student Technology Golf and Tennis Classic is a day long tournament that includes brunch lunch cocktails full course dinner and a silent auction. Every year there are over two hundred participants. The event as recently renamed in memory for Glenn Steinfast a former news anchor and long time F.A.S.T. supporter.

An additional fundraising effort is the Foundation for the Advancement of Student Technology’s Discount Card which is purchased for around 20 and gives discounts to local businesses in the Roslyn Union Free School District part of the Long Island Unified School District. The proceeds from the purchased Discount Cards go toward funding the development of computer education.
